Today, companies have started launching LEO satellites to support automatic driving. Our new technology will be a reliable wireless communication technique to deliver low latency, high data rate, and high network capacity. Therefore, it will support latency-sensitive applications more effectively, and will benefit the society and improve the quality of life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-container-core-column-is-layout-2 wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left is-style-asterisk has-body-font-family has-medium-font-size\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:600\"><strong>Promoting Undergraduate Research<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The PI has a track record of working with undergraduate students in research projects. He has worked with many undergraduate students in the past, who collectively coauthored four papers with him. He will identify and recruit students in his undergraduate classes, as well as in seminars and programming contests.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-container-core-column-is-layout-3 wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left is-style-asterisk has-body-font-family has-medium-font-size\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:600\"><strong>Outreach to Students with Underrepresented Background<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The PI has volunteered himself in activities such as free consultation for student entrepreneurs on wireless communication and signal processing technologies. Also, over the years, he has established good working relationships with colleagues in Florida A&amp;M University (FAMU), a historically black university, such as serving as thesis committee members for their graduate students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-container-core-column-is-layout-4 wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left is-style-asterisk has-body-font-family has-medium-font-size\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:600\"><strong>Documentation of the Research Results<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The research results of this project will be documented and explained on this website, which will include the list of academic publications along with the links, as well as non-technical descriptions of research projects tailored for the more general audience. Experiences will also be shared, such as how to collect and process signals from LEO satellites. Selected code and data will be posted for free access.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-container-core-column-is-layout-5 wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left is-style-asterisk has-body-font-family has-medium-font-size\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:600\"><strong>Curriculum Development<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">At FSU, the PI has developed a new graduate level course, CNT5529 Wireless Networking, which is also open to undergraduate students as an elective. The proposed research provides excellent opportunities to develop new course materials and improve the course. For example, new projects can be designed to analyze the LEO satellite traces to reveal unique characteristics LEO links, which will help the students understand concepts such as the Doppler shift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-container-core-column-is-layout-6 wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left is-style-asterisk has-body-font-family has-medium-font-size\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:600\"><strong>Graduate Student Mentoring<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">By participating in the proposed research, students can learn key aspects in wireless networking and signal processing, including the experimentation with wireless devices and wireless channels, developing various signal processing algorithms to extract key information, etc., which will foster critical thinking on theoretical problems and engineering skills.
