The proposed research will deliver a novel wireless technology for LEO networks that achieves low latency and high network capacity, as well as high data rates for individual user terminals. Valuable knowledge will be gained on broadband grant-free satellite communications in the physical layer and above. Novel signal modulation methods will be discovered that transform the chirp in multiple layers for higher data rates as well as better interference suppressing. Novel link layer solutions will be proposed to fully harness the physical layer capacity and assist the physical layer on issues such as efficient packet retransmission and power control. Theoretical analysis will justify the design choices as well as leading to better understandings on fundamental issues of the broadband grant-free channel.
